My name is Mat Lortie and I have been the Lead Pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church White Rock since February 2016. I am excited by the opportunity to lead the ministries of FBC White Rock and participate in seeing the Kingdom of God increase.
Education: I studied at Regent College (Master of Arts in Christian Studies: New Testament) and Tyndale University College (B.A. Religious Studies). Prior to coming to White Rock, I spent a year at Willingdon Church as one of their pastoral interns.
Where am I from? Although born in Northern British Columbia, I spent much of my life in Eastern Ontario before moving back to the lower mainland in 2005.
Family: I am married to Alyssa, a photographer who dabbles in various forms of art. She also likes to bake and is trying to fatten me up. We live in White Rock with our silly cat.
Favourite Things: I enjoy a good cup of coffee, cooking, golfing, reading, and talking about theology, politics, and culture. I am a big sports fan, and spend much of my time watching the Oilers lose.
Favourite Quotes: “Finally, what Christianity gave to its converts was nothing less than their humanity. In this sense virtue was its own reward.” -Rodney Stark and “They also serve who only stand and wait.” – John Milton
